About the Founder
High Priest Dr. Osemwegie Ebohon
Known with much admiration as "The Lion of African Religion" and the "Genius of our Tradition," Dr. Ebohon has become a colossus in the fields of Traditional Religion, Medicine, Mysticism, and African Arts.
Born on November 11, 1940, in Benin City, he founded the Ebohon Cultural Centre in 1965. Through his Omorariagbon Hospital, he has cured various diseases often deemed incurable by orthodox medicine, combining the power of herbs with ancient mysticism.
He stands as a guardian of truth, dedicating his life to documenting the potency of herbs and the secrets of nature for the benefit of mankind.
The Wisdom of the Serpent
Dr. Ebohon was born when the sun was in the house of Scorpio. Ancient astrologers associate this sign with intense power, conflict between intuition and concentrated energy, and the wisdom of the Serpent.
"Oft have I wondered that on Edo ground, no poisonous reptile ever yet was found. Revealed the secret stand of Nature’s works: she saved her venom to create a priest Ebohon."
— Epigram on the Birth of Dr. Ebohon
As Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote: "When the great God lets loose a thinker upon this planet, then all things are at risk."
Dedicated to His Roots
The soul of the High Priest chose a deeply religious household for its earthly journey.
Wilfred Aiyanyi Ebohon
(1882 - 1974)
A devout Baptist Christian. Dr. Ebohon dedicated the Cultural Centre to his father, proving that reverence for ancestors transcends religious labels.
High Priestess Omorariagbon
(Nee Okunorobo)
Noted for the "Obgon"—a natural, crown-like hair-do that appeared on her head in 1987. It was evidence of her faultless religious stewardship.
