Types of Offerings

Propitiation
Offerings made to appease spirits or ancestors when taboos have been broken or when signs of anger are revealed through divination.
Thanksgiving
Rituals of gratitude performed after a request has been granted, a child is born, or a sickness has been cured by the ancestors.
Votive Offerings
Special sacrifices made in fulfillment of a vow or promise made to a deity in exchange for protection or success.
